Shirley MacLaine is 89 years old and still going strong.
The Academy Award-winning actress, often seen enjoying a martini in Hollywood, remains active despite her age. With a career spanning seven decades, she has experienced more than most of her peers.
MacLaine has made numerous films over the years, with memorable roles in The Apartment, The Trouble with Harry, and Two Mules for Sister Sara. Her performance in Steel Magnolias remains a fan favorite, but in real life, she is very different from the character she played.

In a 2019 interview, she shared, “I don’t let many things bother me. Attitudes are a choice. You can choose to be upset, at peace, or sarcastic—which I happen to be good at.”
These days, MacLaine says her life is “perfect.” She enjoys eating, sleeping, and spending time with her pet dogs on her New Mexico ranch.
Born on April 24, 1934, MacLaine began her career on Broadway before landing her first major film role in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Trouble with Harry in 1955. She was only 21 at the time and found Hitchcock to be quite amusing. “He was a hoot,” she recalled. “Luckily, I wasn’t the type of actress he typically cast.”

With over 50 films to her name, she remains one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. She recently appeared in Only Murders in the Building and continues acting even in her late 80s.
MacLaine prefers traveling over socializing in Hollywood. “I never really partied. I’d rather visit a country I’ve never been to,” she explained.
She spends most of her time surrounded by nature, which she finds comforting. Though she also enjoys her Malibu home, she feels more connected to the outdoors.
Throughout her life, MacLaine has been open about her relationships. She was married to producer Steve Parker for nearly 30 years and has spoken about having other relationships during their marriage.

In 2012, she made headlines when she claimed she had been romantically involved with two prime ministers. While she mentioned a politician she met in Sweden, the individual denied the claims. She also named Australian Foreign Minister Andrew Peacock and Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau.
Over the years, MacLaine has also been linked to actors Dean Martin and Robert Mitchum. Despite her long career, she isn’t ready to slow down just yet.

Recently, she expressed her love for acting and hinted at more projects in the future. Her role in Only Murders in the Building reminded fans of her talent and charm. “I love making movies,” she said. “It was great working with Steve Martin and Martin Short again.”
Shirley MacLaine is a Hollywood legend whose work continues to inspire. At 89, she still has plenty to offer, and fans are excited to see what she does next.
